Last story from the July 1953 issue of Weird Terror #6... this is the second of two Al Tewks tales from this issue, and ooh boy, I don't even know where to begin with this one, I'm really only posting it as a means of completing another full issue request presentation. You'll see what I mean as you get a pretty decent story set-up, only to be ripped-off by one of the lamest "twist" endings in pre-code horror history. Also, I usually like a little more cemetery in my stories called "Cemetery."

The only thing that I would have changed would have been that Anna's rival suitor would have somehow avoided drinking that brew. Well, she ends up with neither. That says something about never really having "it all," no matter who one may be.

As for Peters, I found it a particularly just ending for him. I actually liked the last word of the last sentence because it shows us that we are never really in charge of anything...except how we relate to others, and with even that, we still cannot see ourselves as others do.

So to Anna: Money can't buy you love, but it sure can get you a lot of trouble.

To the chemist: You made your bed and it's in a coffin.

To the unfortunate suitor: Be careful of what you want. It probably will not be what you get.

And for the brutish Carlo: Welcome to h-e-double hockey sticks!!

yes you are right. i must stop smoking! I WILL stop in 7 days. i will break the habit (and i will send NO money!)I will banish my desire for tobacco. I will. I will enjoy my right to clean, healthful living (boring!!). I want to stop tobacco nerves and tobacco breath. So that i can kiss my girl and feel no after-taste. Yes this is what i want. i won't be a slave to tobacco. i WILL mail in my coupon today. before it's too late. thank you so very much. the only thing i have to lose is the offensive, expensive, unhealthful smoking habit!

I would like to read a whole story about Marlo. What an awesome mad scientist character he turned out to be. Sweet and needy and just trying to get ahead in the world. Just trying to help mankind. So he has developed a untraceable, undetectable super poison to benefit medical science. It'll kill twenty people at once! Let's rush it right on over to the E.R., Marlo!

Usually the character who strangles a guy like this is the hero of the story. Or maybe the creature.

I don't think it's as lame as you do, Kars, but you can blame the ending on the December 1952 issue of Reader's Digest which published the first mainstream media's attack on cigarettes; "Cancer by the Carton."

Context is always fun.

Speaking of context from Reader's Digest, does anyone remember these old THOIA posts?
