Revenge in Small Form

Time again for some crummily printed, bat shit crazy, Iger Shop atrocities... yes, it's a sorry set of mind numbing gaggers from the July 1953 issue of Mysteries (Weird and Strange) #2 -- this one full of uranium creatures, insane mothers, demons, and voodoo. I'll probably post the entire issue here because it's seriously one of the more deranged collections from Superior --you can take that either in a good or bad way. One story "Monsters Three" can already be found in the THOIA Archive HERE, posted way back in 2008.

Another comic book writer that got rejected for a second date, I see!

I like this. It's screwball. It's pretty cliche as these tales goes. It at one time says our gold digger is empty headed and barely able to dress herself, and yet she seems to be able to plot and plan very, very well.

There's some great crazy art, the doll throw and elevator crash panels on the last page are very unnatural.

So Ramon never mentioned his mutant brother?

These kind of tales are the equivalent of the "popcorn" movie. You know it's going to be silly, cliche, full of plot holes, and over-the-top, but you can't help but be entertained.

You know, I think women take the ease with which they accrue romantic attention for granted. Nobody ever breaks into my apartment and then, finding me away, murders themselves in a lovesick fit. But apparently it happens to this crazy-eyed, judgmental, black widow so often that she can use it as a cover story. Well, now that I think about it, maybe that's not actually taking it for granted after all.

I am glad he chucked that doll out the window before her plane took off, though. Who knew voodoo dolls had such an environmental effect?

Lots more Iger Shop coming up... and to the person who keeps pestering me for more Atlas, keep your panties on, I'll post some when I post some-- this isn't the All Atlas Blog, got it?

Since these stories aren't "squeaky-clean," I half expected Carlos to survive after getting his revenge on Nana, but I'm not disappointed that he doesn't. As long as they're PICTURED as bad, I can never help LIKING gold-digger characters. So I'm not sorry that she gets her revenge in the same scene where he gets his.

This story is one more tale to file under "could have taken a different path"

Page one featuring the two weird voodoo dolls (or are they just whisk brooms with feet) and the girl tied up could have been a tale of a femme fatale lured to the home of the ugly rich man who uses her as a sacrifice in a Voodoo ritual.
Or-
The femme fatale could have been a Voodoo Queen herself who gets her comeuppance by a rival Voodoo practitioner or lover she turned ugly through black magic.

As to how whisk brooms with feet could fit into either tale is beyond me (though if I saw a whisk broom walking around I would wisely leave it the heck alone and head for a safer locale.)
